The AquaClear Powerhead 50 is a versatile pump that provides exceptional performance for various aquarium needs. It effectively powers undergravel filters and aids in circulating and aerating the water in your aquarium. Additionally, it can be connected to protein skimmers, which are vital for most marine setups. Freshwater aquariums can also take advantage of the added currents for numerous applications.
When paired with an AquaClear Quick Filter, the Powerhead 50 enhances mechanical filtration, ensuring cleaner water conditions and safeguarding baby fish. This model features a unique reverse flow capability that pushes water down the undergravel riser stem and under the gravel, fostering bacterial growth from the bottom up. The introduction of oxygen-rich water beneath the substrate creates optimal conditions for beneficial nitrifying bacteria.
The Powerhead 50 boasts several design, safety, and utility innovations: a compact, energy-efficient, and fully submersible motor, encased in epoxy resin for protection against harsh freshwater and saltwater environments; a venturi aeration feature that enhances surface agitation and gas exchange; a practical rim attachment bracket that easily fits most standard aquarium rims; and adjustable flow control.
